Private Labs adds automated SPV look-through to DataLabs
Fund holdings reported through SPVs are now resolved into the underlying operating companies, with full automation.
Cagliari, September 3, 2026 - Private Labs, the AI and machine-learning company building data infrastructure and portfolio analytics for private markets, today announced a new capability in the Data Governance Workflow present in its DataLabs module: the automated look-through of SPV (special purpose vehicle) structures.

Large Language Models have made document extraction close to a commodity. Information on private markets investments can now be extracted from fund documents at scale. Yet extraction solves only one side of the problem. Building a database of private markets investments requires collating historical data consistently over time, which is hard in an asset class without standard asset identifiers and dispersed information.
DataLabs addresses this with its Data Governance Workflow, a set of tools, actions and procedures that identify and resolve the data issues arising after extraction. Dedicated tools and reconciliation controls detect duplicated assets and companies, gaps in the data and inconsistencies, and propose a resolution to the user.
The new release extends the workflow to SPV structures. Some funds report their investments as a list of SPVs, which in turn invest in the operating companies. Private Labs now resolves the composition of these SPVs and explodes their holdings into the underlying constituents, with no manual intervention.
Users gain a view of the actual companies behind each fund position, and can aggregate exposure to the same company across vehicles and funds.
A complete view of the underlying investments of your portfolio
“Not many funds report their investments as a list of the SPVs in which they have invested”, explains Dario Cintioli, CEO of Private Labs, “but some do, and it is enough to have two or three funds reporting in such manner to obfuscate the look-through view of your total investment portfolio. With this new release DataLabs solve the issue and helps its Limited Partner clients to achieve a complete view of the look-through inside the operations companies, also in presence of SPVs.”
